Buteyko Breathing Technique

We can go for weeks without food, days without water but only minutes without oxygen. Yet there seems to be a lot of time and energy spent on our diet and nutrition without realising that unless we are breathing correctly then it won’t matter how nutritious the food is it still won’t get processed optimally. 

Breathing is simple and we do it consciously as well as unconsciously, which is perhaps why we don’t always pay attention to it. Thankfully there is more of a realisation now about the importance of breathing correctly with research to back it up. 

My own life changing experience  came from being introduced to the Buyteyko technique 25 years ago. I was using 2 inhalers four times a day each to manage chronic asthma, and within weeks of practicing Buteyko I not only stopped using them but felt so much better into the bargain! I felt more grounded yet alive, calm yet focused. And this was JUST by changing the way I breathed. Nothing more. 

Countless other therapies and lifestyle changes over the years prior to this helped to an extent but the main sole thing that helped me immensely was the correcting my breathing. It cannot be underestimated for its part in our overall health and wellbeing.
